   BENTO (Hootsuite design system) — TOKENS
   Engineering export · HS-Bento gallery, Aug 2026, from DX
   ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
   This file is a single import point over the real, unmodified token source
   files (copied verbatim into ./tokens/). Nothing below is re-authored or
   invented — every custom property that exists in the system is reachable
   through this chain. Import ONLY this file.

   LOAD ORDER MATTERS. Later files reference custom properties defined in
   earlier ones (--hs-* aliases resolve to --bento-* tokens; --bento-theme-*
   resolve to --bento-system-* and --bento-palette-ref-*).

   Redefines --bento-theme-color-visual-data-* (locally authored, undocumented)

   one source of truth and charts inherit any future dark-mode chart values.
   New chart work should reference --hs-chart-color-* directly. */

/* ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
   THEME SWITCHING — what actually exists vs. what the system's own docs claim
   ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════

   THE DOCUMENTED CLAIM (this kit's own readme / styles.css header):
     "--hs-* Figma-variable tokens across 5 theme/mode scopes
      (light/dark/brand2020 · tablet/desktop/max breakpoint modes)"

   WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN tokens/fig-tokens.css, verified by reading the file:

   ✅ REAL — 3 responsive breakpoint scopes, each overriding ONLY the modal
      width/height-cap tokens (--hs-comp-modal-{small,medium,large}-*):
        :root[data-mode="tablet"]  { ... }
        :root[data-mode="desktop"] { ... }
        :root[data-mode="max"]     { ... }
      To switch: set data-mode="tablet" | "desktop" | "max" on <html> (or any
      ancestor of the modal). No other component reads a --hs-comp-modal-*
      token, so this scope currently affects modal sizing only.

   ❌ NOT REAL — there is NO [data-theme="dark"] block and NO
      [data-mode="brand2020"] block anywhere in this file, or anywhere else in
      the project. Confirmed by exhaustive search, not a sampling assumption.
      Every --bento-*, --hs-*, and --hs-sys-* color token above resolves to
      exactly one value: the light theme. There is no dark-mode value to
      switch TO, and no attribute that would trigger a switch if there were.

   PRACTICAL IMPLICATION: this export ships ONE color theme (light) and ONE
   real mode axis (tablet/desktop/max, modal-sizing only). If your product
   needs a dark theme or a brand2020 accent theme, it does not exist yet in
   Bento — budget it as new token work, not a flag flip. Do not invent
   [data-theme="dark"] values to fill this gap; that would ship undocumented,
   unapproved color decisions under the Bento name. Flag it back to the DX
   team as a real gap between the kit's documentation and its shipped tokens.

   NAMING KEY
   ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
   --bento-palette-ref-* raw hue ramp value (never consumed by components directly)
   --bento-system-sys-* semantic ramp (aliases a palette ramp)
   --bento-theme-* the tier component CSS should reference
   --bento-component-* one-off tokens scoped to a single component
   --hs-* short aliases onto --bento-* (aliases.css) — safe to use,
                            but --bento-* is the source of truth if the two ever disagree
   --hs-ref-* / --hs-sys-* / --hs-comp-*   raw Figma-variable tier (fig-tokens.css) —
                            mostly consumed indirectly via --hs-chart-color-* and the
                            :root[data-mode] modal-size overrides above
